Greetings from Marrakech
Apologies for no blip action the last two days - my last blip was a bad enough effort, and a combination of exhaustion and limited time meant no photo action on Wednesday and Thursday - a 3 month every-day-blip period came to an end.
So to make up for it here's a picture from Marrakech! Arrived this morning on Sleasyjet from Chavwick South, after getting up at the shocking time of 4am - barely a word said for an hour or two between me and Mrs DP - think we were both in shock.
Anyway, a good flight, before being met by our dodgy cab driver with the oldest Mercedes in Africa. A hectic drive through the streets before being met by a boy with a cart on the edge of the medina - cars can't access it so said young boy carted our luggage from the taxi stop to our Riad - home for 4 nights. Said cab driver wanted paying at the drop off point, but we sniffed a scam as this had been booked through the Riad, so we let him follow us in and wrangle it out with the Riad manager - suspect he was angling for payment twice.
After a rest and freshen up we ventured out into the busy lanes of the old town - not a complete culture shock after previous foreign ventures, but I suppose a surprise that somewhere so different could be so close to the UK (3 hrs flight). Stopped for a sandwich and a coffee in a funky cafe before walking on to the Jemma El Fna square - the heart and soul of this vibrant city.
Now back at the riad and 'chilling' on the terrace. Dinner in tonight - Moroccan home cooking. Can't wait.
