Hinkley & The Nesting Dove

This photo was a surprise to see before me. My Thrasher friend, Hinkley, and the new nesting dove going down my patio wall. They each want the other to leave. Hinkley has been with me for around five years. He has only one good leg. The new nesting dove, which is a Mourning Dove, came together with Hinkley in opposite directions. Note Hinkley's head position. Completely turned in my direction. The dove finally dropped the twig and flew away, however, he later returned and picked it up and put it into his new nest on my patio ramada. Is there a lesson to learn here?
