White Peak Farm Butchery

Today I visited the village of Tissington kindly driven there by my friend Bill.
Apparently Tissington is the the home of Well Dressing, or so it says on an information board in the village.
I didn't know about this fact but had heard of it as home to the impressive looking Tissington Hall which stands in the centre of the village and was built by Francis Fitzherbet in 1609 and is still the family home today.
It really is impressive and when you see it you can understand why the family never moved.
I could go on and on and say that it has a candle shop, fantastic butchers, great tea room, brilliant looking sweet shop, ridiculously old church, loads of quaint looking Bed and Breakfasts and most impressively of all 'roads with no markings'.
But suffice to say it is a fantastic looking village where time in the Peak has yet again stood still.
You can see why Hollywood comes here to film their period dramas with its built in period art direction giving a film set of the highest order.
Tissington is a real gem of a village.
Anyway I digress.
My picture of the day is of the aforementioned butchers shop.
A fabulous old style butchers where everything is cut from huge cuts of beast on the premises and has the added bonus of being able to look at the largest stags head i've ever seen. Fabulous.
