Dinner time at YHA Derwentwater

We (three families from three different parts of the country) arrived at our home for the weekend on Saturday afternoon. We soon settled in and found ourselves a table overlooking the sloping football pitch and the lake.

All eight kids (ages spanning from 5 to 14) went for a stroll down to the lake. Wallis and Ben (pictured) were the last ones back and then it was time to go in for dinner. Up until then us six parents had spent a pleasant, balmy hour or so enjoying a few beers and catching up on all that has happened since we last met.

Dinner went down well, as did a couple more beers and wines, while the kids had fun exploring and playing table tennis. A brilliantly simple, thoroughly enjoyable evening.
