Competition

I had some time to kill for a change this evening while waiting for to watch The Messenger at QFT in Belfast as part of the Belfast Film Festival. It was really good and I'll probably watch it again when it comes out on DVD.
This is part of the front of The Crown Bar in Gt Victoria St. It was built in 1849 and it underwent a restoration some years ago once the National Trust bought it. We're lucky it's still there actually, as it sits almost directly opposite the Europa Hotel, once Europe's "most bombed hotel"; a sad record now held by some hostelry in Bosnia, I'm told. One can see in some places where original tiles have been replaced and this *may* be due to bomb damage as bits of cars and vans, no doubt, hit the front of the bar at some point.
I like the sense of the vying for space between the 19th century ornate tiling and the 21st century street furniture.
Also spotted this evening was a strange mannequin in a shop window.
