Catch of the Day

Zihuatanejo has a fleet of local fishing boats which take off from and return to the beach in front of the basketball court downtown. They normally leave in the early evening and return to sell what they have caught the following morning. I have tried on numerous occasions to get good photographs of the morning fish mart, but the lighting is too contrasty and the crowds too large. Today, we lucked into these fisherman selling their catch at 1:00 in the afternoon rather than the early morning. The timing might have had something to do with writers who were interviewing them or it might have been for the benefit of the two cruise ships in the bay, but I was finally able to get the shot I had been wanting since arriving four months ago.
