Chithurst Monastery

We arrived to spend some quiet time after the meal offering today, and incense was still burning. The Buddha is lit only by natural daylight from invisible skylights high up in the niche, and the sun highlighted the incense smoke, wafting prayers heavenward. A very special space to restore peace to a troubled mind or just simply to be.

to hear
the whispers of feet
and robe passing,
the beat of a heart
stirring,
the quiet of a mind
expanding,
the silence of a soul
growing,
sit here
till peace flows in
and the sun beams.
