Low Tide
Taken from Monaco (in Nelson) looking across to lower Queen Street in Richmond. The bit of island with the house on it is Bests Island. I'm never sure whether to laugh or cry at this view. The tranqulity of the sand flats and the sea with the bustle and steam of the MDF plant in the background. Still, the seabirds don't seem too worried - not that you can see them from that distance but there are herons, cormorants, oyster catchers, gulls and pied stilts out there at the waters edge - there may be more that I didn't notice.
I left for Nelson at 6.45 this morning, taking students up to a course. Did a few jobs, spent some time in another school chatting with other English teachers, visited a couple of people and picked the boys up at 3 to drive home.
Off to Westport tomorrow with our secondary students to support and cheer on the 20 of our students who are already away at our district Area Schools Tournament.
One of these days I might actually spend a whole day in my classroom and office, teaching some students and getting some of my work done!
NB: No seabirds were harmed in the making of this blip - that is steam coming from the factory not smoke.
