great blue

what a treat today...

i was all set to blip a flower - a very pretty one, mind you... but for whatever reason i pulled in to my little lake - yes, my lake... i've taken over ownership of it now...

things were very quiet as i wandered around... no squirrels... the geese were all sitting on their nests... there were a couple of big turtles i noticed that i'll need to try and capture another day... even the wind that's been so furious the past several days, had calmed down.

then as i rounded a bend, i was startled to see a great blue heron. what? really? i did a double take 'cuz i've never seen one in these parts before and clearly it couldn't be. but i looked again... crept closer... it looked at me... i looked at it... internally i was doing the happy dance for i was quite taken with its beauty, grace and the glorious wonder god had put before me on this day. in fact, i've never seen one close up... ever. i don't think - maybe in a zoo? but then i remembered - up went the camera... snap, snap... and like all true blippers, i began the bird stalking of the great blue. i got him flying, standing, walking, standing in water... i even managed to get him catching a fish although it turned out fuzzy... picking just one proved difficult today. can i only hope i might stumble upon more blues as the weather warms? we'll see...
