Cattle by the sea
A small herd of cattle
with hay in each mouth;
half look north
and half look south.
The first and second,
the third and fourth:
the black look south
and the brown look north.

EDIT: to add a second verse to the poem. I did have a second verse before posting, but dropped it, as I think one of the blacks, whose head is hidden, is probably facing the same way as the brown cattle, but let's call it poetic licence. The sea is to the east, so I trust I've got my directions correct! :-)
