Pinata
As we went for a stroll this evening, we were lucky enough to stumble upon a birthday party outside one of the nearby houses.
A little boy named Diego had reached the ripe old age of three, and so a small street party was taking place, complete with sweets, cake, balloons and the infamous pinata.
From what I can gather the pinata is relatively common in The US, but not so in England - so seeing one was a real treat
There were two pinatas, the first in the shape of a traditional doll, the second a bright red car. Diego, we were told, loves cars the most
Each kid took turns, hacking wildly at the candy filled target - the girl in the picture above even managed to snap the broom handle they were using.
When they finally managed to smash open the prize, they leapt at the candy on the floor, but made sure everyone got a fair share.
They even gave Lucy and I a bag of candy and a slice of delicious cherry chocolate cake.

A magical side note.
Lucy, a non-swimmer, was watching someone floating in the swimming pool today, and said she'd like to learn how to float because despite being unable to swim she still likes being in the water.
Turns out the woman in question was an ex swimming instructor, and remarkably Lucy was swimming laps within an hour, for the first time in her life.
Truly a great day.
