almost summer
I've always remembered, at an event with the artist Stephen Gill, that he was surprised to be asked if he ever felt guilty or uncomfortable shooting candid photos on the street. He just shook his head, as if the idea was ridiculous. A comment was made that photographers, or street photographers anyway, have a sort of ethical blind spot when it comes to intrusion into other people's lives. It's an easy way out of the dilemma, of course, and I'm not sure if I have a better answer.
That being said, I decided to keep and post this shot, and the others I took today. Only once do I remember scrapping a photo I'd taken, and liked, as I thought it was too intrusive into a private moment.
