walking in the city

Galaxie 500

Laneway behind Logan Avenue

500. Far out. When I started this journal I shot with a Pentax Optio, which frankly, I could sketch faster. That camera is now retired to a mini-tripod on my bookcase. My next was a tiny wee Casio, bought (legitimately) with government funds on my first research trip to San Francisco. Thanks SSHRC. That little badboy fit in my front pocket and was great for composition practice, until I dropped it on the sidewalk.

Now I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT on permanent loan from my landlord, bless 'im. I can't say my shots are much better, though it's nice to work with a wider angle and I dig using the viewfinder, old school style.

I love blipfoto. Thanks to the awesome people who keep it going. I've made fantastic friends and some of them have even entered my Real Life. This site gives me a platform to produce creatively, a refreshing break from the scholarly work that crushes my head most days. I am soooo not native to academia.

Hope your weekend's been stellar.
