Hotel de la Paix Siem Reap

This picture shows part of the swimming pool at the wonderful Hotel de la Paix in the middle of Siem Reap in Cambodia. The other part of the swimming pool is covered so that even in really hot or really wet weather you can still swim.This hotel is just about perfect in so many ways the rooms are quiet and cool and comfy. The food is delicious, the service excellent ,the staff are helpful,kind and friendly . There is a beautiful rooftop spa and a small gym.We love it here and are lucky enough to be able to enjoy the peace and quiet.However , as with so much of Asia (and Africa I guess) the contrast between this and the lifestyle of most of the Cambodian people we know is HUGE!It must be very strange for the people who have lived in Siem Reap all their lives to witness the massive development and influx of wealth that has arrived with the international interest in the amazing Angkor temples
