Well Jason Maguire has made me £140 richer by delivering Ballabriggs home first over the line at Aintree. Which is good. But I always forget how unpleasant an experience it is to watch the race. I wasn't thinking about it yesterday and I hadn't really clicked again this morning when I went into the bookies to place the bets. Its a brutal race and this year was no exception - 2 horses never to race again.

I'm torn in a way and I really don't know whether its a good thing or not. For sure, its a huge race for Liverpool and the benefit to the local economy is massive. Liverpool would miss the Grand National in ways that haven't even been thought of. And after all, they're "only" horses. Or maybe that's the point.
