It is a shining day in Blipdom when there are eight possible candidates for today's shot by noontime.

Leah and I went to the zoo today for Dinos and Donuts! Free Krispy Kremes and coffee/juice (damn it! had I not been blinded by this awesomeness I would have blipped the towers of teetering donut boxes) for guests on opening day today of a new exhibit. The exhibit was about dinosaurs that used to live in what is now Texas. They had a bit of a cheesy animantronic/Chuck E. Cheese/Disney quality to them but the kiddos seemed to love them. Call me crazy, but I like going to the zoo to see the real, live animals. They also had free rides on the little kiddy train. You know, going there with Leah makes me feel like a kid again, in fact. Yeah, we joke about how we are the creepy couple there without children (seriously, though, the place was crawling with them) but we also dream/foresee about our own futures of doing such activities with future wee ones.

So, after this we went to this great little family owned French bakery we'd discovered by accident; went to a giant antique mall (where I drooled over a 1920s Remington Portable typewriter that was in great working order); and drove through the Botanic Gardens. All of this before twelve o'clock, too! Leah's exams had taken a toll this week on our together time (which is totally fine, obviously, but provides an accurate glimpse of the future, too, with her role in doctorhood), so cramming all of this in was actually not in the least bit exhausting or overwhelming. It was all just the perfect reassurance that I am exactly where I need to be with the person I need to be with.
