Jodhpur
A day of firsts, my first ride in an Auto rickshaw and my first Indian Train ride. After a brief stroll around Delhi, I headed to the sation, to catch my first train in India. Finding the right platform, was exciting good job i got there early as i spent 30 mins waiting on the wrong platform, then two trains arrived at the same time. I spent another 20 mins searching for my seat on one train only to find out that it was the other train i was supposed to be one, it was with great relief that i finally found my name on the carrigage.
Indian trains are interesting, did alot of people watching as no one in my booth spoke english, but they still did there best to make me feel welcome, A few of the people on the train were actually going out of there way to make sure i was ok which was nice of them. I dont think forigners in our country would be treated the same way. As we left the station more and more people piled on the conductor came round and checked our tickets, he was insistant that somebody move so i could sit in my reserved seat. as we pulled into more stations, more and more people climbed aboard. It was crazy, people almost standing on top of each other, every nook and cranny got filled with bodies or people. Yet the locals cope with this so well, everyone smilling and chatting to each other not like the tube in london at all. it went on like this for about 4 hours, and then all of a sudden almost everyone got off it was time, to get the beds out. I had been falling asleep in the chair, and one man, instructed me to go to sleep, he later gave me biscuits which was much appreciated.
The sights and sounds of this country amaze me, the people who live in shantty towns, alongside the railways, every one seems so happy and at peace.
Arrived at Jodhpur at 6am to met by my old room mate from PGL, another first riding pillion on a motorcycle, hes been here seven months now so knows the roads pretty well. this is the view from the roof garden of his building.
