Spring Madness
This is a photo of our garden. We strive for a wildlife friendly garden (the fact that the grass hasn't been cut isn't a part of this grand plan!). In the brief 15 minutes out in the garden with the camera I saw:
A pond cram full of -
Newts, Fogs and Toads
Water Measurers (a new pond critter for this year)
Caddis Fly Larvae
Countless Ramshorn Snails (we introduced 20 3/4 years ago and now have many more)
Pond Skaters being their usual frisky/argumentative selves.
A Damselfly Larva (one of last year's eggs from the size of it)
Around the garden I saw :
Two Holly Blue butterflies (our first of the year).
Several of our resident Blackbirds
Two Collared Doves
A Woodpigeon
Blue Tits
Sparrow
Great Tit
Chaffinch
All of this, and much more besides, live in a fab garden in the suburbs of Cambridge. We're really lucky and really glad we put the effort into digging our pond. It has given us loads of entertainment, education and relaxation over the past few years.
