Something different....
I know, it's a gorgeous day with loads of opportunity to do a beautiful sunny day blip.
However, as the church was open and the light was flooding in through the windows, I thought I would take the opportunity to go inside for my Blip today.
The church opposite is really very interesting inside. As churches go it is also very pretty. Hanging from the beams (I know my church architecture vocabulary is somewhat lacking) are rows of angels. Near the alter are big golden coloured angels but where the congregation sit there are these angels. In between each angel are angel heads in pink and blue. It makes for a very interesting ceiling.
Apparently, so Frank informed me (he's an OAP who volunteers to explain different aspects of the church to people) the angels are made of plaster, not carved out of wood. The ceiling is pine, not oak, as in some churches. Just as well, because the black watch beetle doesn't like pine but prefers oak.
He gave me lots of other information, far too much to put down here and far too much for me to remember. He was very sweet.
