The barbers shop
This picture shows one of the local barbers. There are a number of them in this town and they are always busy. It's very unusual to see a Cambodian man with long hair . Most of the barbers also offer a shave service using a cut throat razor. This must be a risky business given the age of most of the barbers and the fact that eye problems are very common here and practically no one wears glasses! The checked scarf that the barber is wearing is a krarma . Krarmas are used by men and women in Cambodia. Men usually wear them round their middle as a belt or loose like a kilt. Women tend to wear them on their heads often as protection against the sun. They are also used as dish cloths, kitchen towels, bandages, sheets and anything else you can think of that requires a good strong cotton cloth.
