Determination

Worked on email and catching up all morning.

Eventually left the apartment, rode the train down to South Station and walked along the greenway before heading toward the open ocean.

It's easy to forget that this town is a port, believe it or not, and that we all are ocean dwellers here. The shape of Massachusetts doesn't lend itself to a view of wide open sea, and it doesn't seem never-ending here.

To me, I will always see Boston as a river town, focused around the Charles. But it was nice to get out further and see the view of the sea, and the smell. Nothing else smells like the open ocean.

It was pretty cold at the water though - bitter wind. Stopped at Chris Columbus Park on the water to watch an older gentleman with the thickest Boston accent and his passel of 7 dogs, all of which ran about off leash (so to speak - they all dragged the leashes behind them...). They were very well behaved, and he spoke to each with such love. Several friends stopped in and spoke to him and the animals. It was clear he is a feature in this park.

I took lots of photos - he kept calling me the pretty girl with the camera.

Edit: Shot looks a little grainy to me. It's cropped a bit, and a small amount of processing but I'm looking at the original and it's kind of grainy too. I always wonder how that happens, perhaps I should look it up in a technical manual.

Or just have another glass of wine.
