Over the Rainbow Bridge

The sun was shining when I looked out the sleeper window and it stayed put all day, thank goodness. Although the wind put in a strong appearance in the afternoon. We blamed that on Granda, trying to be mischievous on Gran's big day. The funeral went very well. My cousin Lizann was a star - she'd baked some of the recipes from Granny's recipe book and they tasted just like the gingerbread, banana cake and pancakes that we ate as kids. They kept us going.

It was great to chat to friends and relatives, some I knew and some I had never met before. All had a good story or several about Gran and tales about Granda also made a frequent appearance. After all, the two names go hand in hand. Which is where I'm sure they are now, hand in hand, having a good blether and a giggle, and attempting to break Granda's hard-as-steel treacle toffee. Either that, or Gran has chased him out for being cheeky already, which wouldn't surprise me.

Farewell for the moment Granny Fraser. You'll be very much missed.
