great blue heron

Spotted this great blue heron (looked more gray than blue) at Whitaker Ponds Wildlife Refuge close to where we live. Almost did not see it because it blended so well with its surroundings.

The heron is a good subject because it keeps very still for long periods of time as it stalks for small fish in the shallow pond. Managed to take several pictures and when I moved even closer, it got spooked and flew away. View large
