Christopher Columbus

I could probably devote this blog to the stone heads of Bradford, following the bearded figure last week, and now Christopher Coumbus.

Columbus is one of a number of explorers that adorn two sides of the Wool Exchange, which is generally agreed to be one of the city's finest buildings. The association with Columbus, Raleigh, Cook and so on was meant to convey the importance of Bradford as a global city, at the centre of the world's wool trade.

Quite what Columbus would make of his fate as a pigeon roost in a Yorkshire city I don't know.
