How I love and hate the theatre...
...and how i love and hate loud music.
Tonight we went an saw this dude on stage. For the interested, this is Daniel Lohues (dutch only i'm afraid). Anyway, his show was a bit strange in some way: he had some funny stories, puns and jokes in between his songs, that really had the crowd laughing. He would then follow up on said intermezzo with a song in a singer-songwriter style that was very low-key, most of the time a bit sad or depressed.
Beautiful songs, don't get me wrong, but the combination of the funny stories and the somewhat sadder songs on the same subject where a bit confusing. No problem there. So that was the "love" part. The rest of the crowd makes up for the hate part. Not that it was very bad tonight, but if i start to see reason i'd never write a good rant.
So here this guy is singing a sensitive little song with his grand piano, and the crowd goes "WHAHAHAHAHA" everytime a word or subject from his intermezzo talks was mentioned. Maybe i didn't get the show and it's just my bad, but i think some of the people didn't listen at all to the man and his song.
They probably thought the same thing about each other, because every time he said something, there were at least 3 people REPEATING what he just said.
(daniel: )"so i bought this mandolin"
(random person) * he bought that mandolin thing!
(daniel: )" I had to get the cab in front of that row of cabs"
(other random person) " yes yes, probably, yes"
I HEARD HIM THE FIRST TIME, and i think HE KNOWS he was supposed to do that, because HE JUST SAID SO.
Anyway, ranttime is over. last thought: maybe it told you here that TOO LOUD is bad, but at least you can't hear all the other people around you :P
to be clear: we had a great time tonight :)
