Red-breasted Goose

On arrival in Perth yesterday, we checked out if there were any rarities in the area and found that the local RSPB reserve, Vane Farm, was boasting a Red-breasted Goose in among the Pink-footed Geese.

As you've probably realised from the photo we successfully found it, however, not many people who visited Vane Farm today would have done. It was being exceedingly elusive, allegedly feeding out of sight in a dip in the ground. Then as all the geese took off it was nowhere to be seen in the flight.

We actually "discovered" it once we left the reserve and were on the road home. It'd have been a good day if we hadn't, but that put the proverbial icing on the cake - an excellent day out and finding it saved me the embarrassment of blipping fluffy lambs!
