What a glorious day!
I led the Haltwhistle walkers on a 10+mile walk today - a circular from Gilsland. (Actually when you looked at the route on the map the shape was more like a charging bull than a circle, but never mind.)
Here we are climbing up the hill to Blenkinsopp Common. It was very windy here and extremely tussocky and boggy underfoot, but the views were great. I've chosen this image for my Blip because it shows the wildness and the open spaces we walk in. We think we are very lucky.
Part of the route was completely underwater after the rain so we had to climb a fence and cross the railway since we did not have a boat to hand. There was also a tree down at the end of a bridge. I had done the recce on Sunday but obviously a lot can change in 72 hours.
The Courant photographer came and took lots of photos of today's walkers. We should be in the paper on Friday (and on TV tomorrow or Friday.......)
