Life in the country....

What a morning this has been.....i tell you, life in the country is never dull (well there are moments!!)...

Started off with me watching Zoe (the hound dog) prancing down the driveway, with something large in her mouth! I thought, squirrel, rabbit.....but no, once i got a good luck, it was one of our chickens!!! I was appalled and headed straight for the door! i followed her up the driveway and in the forest, she was quite a bit ahead of me, and i wasn't calling her....i knew she'd take off at the sound of my voice! Eventually, she appeared, without the chicken in her mouth....and i got to her, scolded her (altho how the hell is she to know the difference!!) and tried to find the beast. she'd buried it in the snow!!! It's hard to reconcile the feelings i have, these chickens are sweet, they give us eggs.....and she's a hound dog!!!

Then off on my walk. first thing to amaze me was watching a very large hawk, not sure what kind, soaring above me, close enough for me to see the markings on it's wings, but too far for the lens i have.....so after the initial impulse to try and take a shot or two....i just stood there, watching it...pretty cool! While heading down the trail, i could see very clearly, fresh prints of a moose in the snow....wow, it feels pretty astonishing to be walking right in the path of a huge moose, and probably not too long ago!!! Finally, on my way back, watching the skies, i saw 2 bold eagles, again too high up to even try a shot.....so once again i just watched in wonderment.....then i spotted another and another....4 in total! Soaring high, calling out to each other.....it was wonderful!

and the cherry on the top.....my 59th birthday....lots of wonderful phone calls and those awesome e cards, from dear and cherished friends, and family.....i feel so blessed to have such a loving gang to show me their love! This evening, Terry is taking me out for a lovely chinese meal...and then a movie....Rango.....so, i feel very full and satisfied already!

off to the studio to load a kiln!
