Cake
The Italian Colomba cake is similar to the panettone but is traditionally eaten at Easter instead of Xmas. Legend has it it hails back from when it was offered to Alboino, king of Lombardi (6th century) after he harassed Pavia.
The cake itself is now associated to springtime and Easter, offering and thanks. It's soft and moist in the inside and encrusted with sugar and an almond topping and scrumptious! & makes me think of my Grandma :0)
