Lunchtime Entertainment
These are american pupils from the John Hanson French Immersion and Montessori school. They came to entertain us over lunch with some musical selections -- in French of course. They were just sitting on the stairs of our atrium, patiently awaiting their turn, not at all intimidated by the surroundings or the throng of important looking people.
I chatted with some of them and asked them to show me how many years of French they'd already had; that's what the hand gestures are about.
This performance was put on by our Family Network -- a group of spouses and partners of our staff, which organizes various activities as well as introductions to Washington for the families of our mostly expatriate staff. They run a pretty tight outfit and do lots of cool stuff (makes me wish I were a spouse rather than staff...) :)
