New hobby
Firstly apologies for not posting in a while. An extended illness over Christmas got me out of the habit but hopefully I'm back for good now.
I bought a telescope yesterday and enjoyed a freezing evening looking around the sky. It's clear to me that I have a lot of learning to do since there are about half a dozen ways I can adjust the angle of the telescope and I understand none of them. Also the telescope currently stands higher than me so I really need to work out how to adjust the height of the legs...
At one point I actually lost the moon for about an hour, for some reason I just couldn't get it lined up right but I found it again in the end. The detail is absolutely amazing and I'm really excited to learn how to track down objects other than the moon.
This photo was the best one I got. If my astronomy skills are weak then my astrophotography skills are non-existant. This picture was taken by setting my camera to "night" mode, setting focus to infinity and holding it up to the eyepiece. In retrospect the "night" mode was probably a mistake since the moon is so bright but I'll be back out again tonight fiddling with the settings to try and get a better picture.
