Chart
This is a chart, NOT a map. It shows Cape Trafalgar ( at the top edge of the ruler) off which Nelson's greatest and last battle was fought against the combined French and Spanish fleets.
The glass pyramid visible at top left is a reconstruction of something that would be let into the wooden decks (point down) so that light could filter through it to the cabin below. I imagine you would need a lot of them to cast even a feeble light.
Of course these objects have been gathered for the purposes of the picture. No Officer of the Watch would EVER let that amount of detritus accumulate on his chart table!
It's gales and rain again today, not a day to take ship for the coast of Spain hence the indoor blip.
