Second Snowfall

No wonder it was so cold last night and this morning. The snow was right down to the tops of the foothills. Yesterday morning there was no snow at all on the mountains.

I recall the old-timer who told me of the rhyme he learned as a child and swore by ever since. It refers to snow on the mountains.

I've known years when there has been no snow at all in May, and others when April snow stayed.

I wonder how it will be this year. Anyway, I'm lighting the fire today for the first time this year.
