The Room (La Sale)
In the Colucci home there is a sacred room.
It has lovely antique furniture and a dining table for 6 people.
However, it is only used on very special occasions. His mother cleans it everyday and also after whoever goes in and touches something. So the first time I visited 2 years ago, his family got the shock of their lives when they came round and saw the table laid out for lunch :)
The homes of his relatives that I've been to so far are all decorated meticulously with beautiful antique furniture, vases, china dishes with flowery patterns hanging on the wall like a big art piece. Lots ofthoughts and attention behind everything, it's absolutely inspirational. I don't have that energy or gift unfortunately.
First day of the Italian course started very well. Definitely made a lot of progress in my understanding of the language. Hopefully I'll be able to retain most of it after these few months here! My favourite word at the moment is 'Basta!' which means 'enough' or stop. Of course, it's not natural to say it without some dramatic hand movements! Haha!
