'Sailin' up the Clyde'
Another cracking February day. This wee boat was making good speed on the Clyde Estuary.I think it's Tug.
At the top left of the picture,in the water,is the hull of a sunken boat.
The story is quite interesting. The cargo was sugar destined for the Tate & Lyle Refinery in Greenock. The news of the sinking caused panic buying of sugar and stockpiling by shops.
I don't think the panic was justified as there was still enough sugar to go round
It still caused a "stir"
This happened in the early 1970s
