Bridge Series Photo # 11

High Bridge Aqueduct. Originally part of the Croton Aqueduct which carried fresh water to NYC from Upstate reservoirs. For more interesting info on this -- the oldest surviving bridge in New York City click HERE. Construction of this Bridge began in 1839 and was finished in 1848. It's currently closed to traffic, it was a foot bridge for a while but was closed due to hooliganism, for lack of better words. Here is the view across through the locked gates. Here is a Pano that didn't stitch too well or would have been my blip. This bridge was very hard to photograph, hope you enjoy. For links to my other bridges in my series click the tags -- :)
