Blessed

That's what I am.

A year ago today I married my soul mate.

10 years and 361 days ago, I gave birth to the most precious little boy - special soul who I love with all my heart.

I have wonderful family, including my Aunty Val (who will not thank me for posting these images of her pulling a face - in her defence, the saddle was a razor blade and the bike had a flat tyre), my wonderful Nana and Rose, Dave, Vik and all the family who I haven't seen today.

My Mum, in Spain, who doesn't complain when I never get a card to her for mothers day - a phone call is better, right?

My Dad, who rings unprompted to have a chat and check that I am OK, as my blips have sounded like I am not recently.

My bro who I love more every day. I used to find him annoying when we were kids - now, I think he's fab.

Yeah, I'm blessed. My ailing body keeps letting me down, but the people around me don't, and that is what matters.

I don't need cards and presents to remind me of what I have. I don't hold much stock in them to be honest. Corin and I exchanged cards today, but had agreed no gifts - why would we need to when we are with each other every day? That is our gift to each other.

James made me a card, which means more than he knows. A hug and a smile and the random and unexpected moments of joy, silliness and affection throughout every day - they are my daily gifts from him.

So, I blip now, with a glass of wine and an Irish coffee consumed, after a large curry (our anniversary/Mother's day meal - the only concession to celebration!). I'm all warm and fuzzy with love and alcohol.

My pyjamas are calling me, maybe the men in white coats too.
