Tunes

Been hammering my CD collection the last day or two and thought I'd share a few on blip. Weak blip I know but my 11 month old nephew Isaac is due any minute (plus my brother) so I had to rush something. Therefore here are the highlights / reasons I've selected these CD's. I'm not doing loads of links, if you're interested go find them :-P

Soul Asylum - Let Your Dim Light Shine: Bought this with my first wage packet in my GCSE year of 1995. Eyes of a Child is class.

Little Man Tate - About What You Know: Last CD I bought prior to splitting with Kelly in 2007. The song 'This Must Be Love' is great, but these guys slipped under the radar due to sounding a bit like the Arctic Monkeys without the hype.

Pete Doherty - Grace/Wastelands - Don't care what anyone says about Doherty, he is class. Last of the English Roses reminds me of going to see him in 2009 shortly after the album was released. Brilliant stuff.

Green Day - 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours: The anthem of my teenage years. Loved early Green Day and this album is packed with classic tunes long since forgotten. Why Do You Want Him was a song that held relevance on sooooo many occasions.

Eels - Beautiful Freak: 1998. Listen to the song Mental. Brilliant. In fact the whole album has a sombre and thoughtful vibe, strongly recommended.

JJ72 - They played Oxygen time and time again on the VT at V98, brilliant track. Find it. Listen. In awe. Wonder why they never went anywhere.

MIA - Kala: Don't really know why I selected this, just an odd CD. The track Mango Pickle Down River is entrancing if nothing else.

Babyshambles - Shotters Nation: Not a weak track. Bought this in November 2007 and it just reaffirms my belief that Pete Doherty is the Bob Dylan of this generation. Delivery and Baddies Boogies probably the best songs on an almost faultless album.

Carter USM - 1992 Love Album. Been nudged back towards Carter recently and this was probably their best album from an amazing back catalogue of social commentary set to an electro punk theme. If you don't know who these guys are look on youtube for anything Live in Zagreb in 1994. Possibly my favourite band of the last 30 years. Possibly.

Kid Rock - Devil Without A Cause: Look I know technically this is shit, vocally this is shit and lyrically this is shit. However everyone has a guilty pleasure don't they? This is mine. When the first chords of Cowboy strike up I instantly get hooked.

Happy Mothers Day to all them mothers out there. Back on form tomorrow.

(Check out yesterdays back blip for a glimpse into my football orientated Saturday).
