Doraemon helps Tohoku

We got this Doraemon piggy bank years ago. I think he came with some ice creams inside.

Since then we've used him to collect all the odd coins that get found in pockets before laundry, or laid on the windowsill till later, or at the bottom of handbags when you have a clearout....
Anyway, last time it was emptied was about 4 years ago. This time in a weak moment a couple of years ago I promised Mairi that she could use the money to buy something big that she wanted. Recently it has been getting full.
The other day Mairi said she wanted to give the money in the box to the people in Tohoku who lost everything. That one 3DS for her to play with is not as important than people who have to live on 2 rice balls a a day.
So I took Doraemon to the bank and we found he had more than 22,000 yen inside.
Today a group of secondary students from HIS were collecting in the city centre for the red cross. We went down and she put her 22,000 yen in the box. Then she stood and helped with the collection forva while.
I wish we could get Doraemon to use some of his magic tools to help the people out of their nightmares...but for now, expressing it in money and effort is all we can do.
I'm proud of my little girl today for puttoing others before herself.
