Don't Smile for the Camera!
With a view to saving a few pounds I thought I would take Louis' passport photo. I mean, how hard can it be? Surely I could do better than the shop in town who charge an extortionate fee for such a simple task! The only thing I needed to do was make sure he wasn't smiling because that's not allowed in passport photos.
I soon realised that telling a child not to smile is challenging. It appears to me that the instruction to Louis not to smile isn't read as merely the absence of a smile but caused him to try to produce the opposite of a smile. Not as in a sad face, but as if not smiling was an expression in itself! This led to some very contorted expressions and took great effort on his part.
We finally gave up and went to the shop in town. The woman there got him in one shot.
