This is not just any Kestrel...

...this is an M&S kestrel.

Lovely day out planned today in the surprising sunshine with a long walk around Loch Leven. It's an RSPB reserve, and Mr B had heard that the osprey (only one though) was just back from its hols in Africa, and that there was also a white tailed eagle hanging about. Unfortunately, just long enough into the walk to be quite far from the car, but not long enough to have really seen anything, Conor took a nasty tumble and made a large hole in his knee, with accessory smaller holes in palms and knuckles.

The level of howling, trickling blood and genuine limp made us realise fairly quickly that that was an end to the walking for the day. Mr B's phone found the nearest road, where I headed with the kids while Mr B jogged back to get the car.

I had to walk through a farm to get to the road (either that or crossing umpteen barbed wire fences or a river) and was rather sternly treated by the couple there doing their front garden (despite my profuse apologies and explanation, and Conor's limping and sobbing). Anyway, Mr B found us in the end so we headed home via the petrol station to buy papers and restorative sweeties (bribes to make him let me wash his wounds). And that's where the kestrel was, hovering just by the M&S shop.

Not the bird I was hoping for, but welcome all the same.
