Dave

This is Dave: old soldier, old communist, auto-didact, engineer, businessman, traveller, potter, raconteur...

He is the oldest member of my reading group, and the only man. He is over 80, hard of hearing, in poor health and very frail now but he is still full of opinions - and gallantry towards 'the ladies'. (His wife comes too.)

I have been wanting to take his picture for some time and almost did when he nodded off in our meeting last month, but decided I didn't want to take advantage of him. This time I asked him as he was leaving and he readily acquiesced. I took just the one shot as it was too windy to keep him standing around.

When I showed him the image on the LCD screen his comment was "Handsome bugger aren't I?"
