Palpatine Wannabe
I love Star Wars. I was always into the bad guys when I was young, especially the Emperor. He was the most sinister and coolest of all characters. He was soooooo bad ass. I mean, I thought Darth Vader was the baddest, whenever Darth would enter a place, NOBODY would be safe. Then when I saw him kneel down to the Emperor, I was like..............oh man.... there's someone EVEN BADDER! Hell yeah.
For people my age, you probably already know which episodes I'm talking about and which I prefer. I personally didn't like the new three and I've had extremely tiresome debates with many tiresome people about the whole tiresome "debacle". I've grown rather........tiresome of the seriousness of it (not that I'm better for doing so). I mean, I can argue my viewpoint about Star Wars until the cows come home and actually think that what I have to say is important.
One thing that completely changed my mind about Star Wars was seeing my little nephew watch them. He loves Star Wars too. He was like me when I was young and has a huge Star Wars toy collection. He even has 5 lightsabers!!! I would have KILLED for a lightsaber, especially Darth's. If the Emperor had one, I would have got it too but he has cool thunder, so that's cool too.
Anyway, back to the point, we also talked about Star Wars and he prefers the new ones. I mean, it's an 11 year old talking with a 24 year old (at the time) but I got kinda aggravated at first but then I was like, I'm talking with my nephew here... chill out. I love him very much and I realised that it didn't really matter which ones he liked, because he liked them for his own reasons, as I for mine. I chilled out and just enjoyed the chat about Star Wars with him. I soon came to the conclusion that it didn't really matter what my opinion was. They're still being made and they're still being loved. Even if you hate it, it's still around.
When I was working in a cinema I had all these super-nerds talk to me about how crap Episode 1 and 2 were and they'd get so heated about it. They spoke like "experts" as if it had the same brevity as a world issue debate about energy resources or something. It really felt like a waste of time looking back on it, so instead of pretending to be "better" than everybody else in my supposed knowledge of Star Wars and what it "should" be, it'd be best to just keep my opinions to myself and just enjoy it for what it is. There's heaps to talk about other than the movies anyway.
I don't know about you, but you probably noticed that the people who complain about it the most, actually don't do anything about it. They just sit there and blab on for hours, wrestling their ideas against yours and force their opinions on you. If you really "loved" Star Wars, or anything for that matter, you would do something about it. Write a fan novel, try to get it published, work with comic book writers, programme a video game, paint some pictures. I dunno, ANYTHING! Don't waste time on the shoulda, woulda and couldas.....because you didn't.
I also love the Adidas Star Wars range... it rocks.
