Delaware Water Gap - 35 miles distant.
This evening on getting where I thought I was supposed to be I was told that I wasnt. This left me having made a trip for nothing so I thought I'd take a more scenic route home.
Where we live we have a few different routes to the interstate, because of this we use different exits to get on eastbound to westbound. Between the exits we use there is a turn off on one side of the interstate that leads up to a "Scenic Overlook". I have never been there. The sign says that it closes at dusk. Well it was nearly dark but I thought I'd head up there anyways.
From the overlook you can see all the way to the Delaware Watergap. To quote from Wikipedia:
"The Delaware Water Gap is on the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where the Delaware River cuts through a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. A water gap is a geological feature where a river cuts through a mountain ridge."
The water gap is the cut you can see in the ridge up near the top right of this image. It is actually about 35 miles away from where theshot was taken. I may be heading up that way on the weekend... perhaps I'll get some closer shots of the rock faces of the water gap to blip.
As you can see most of the snow has gone. It only remains in shaded/protected areas. We may be getting a load more tomorrow night, but it may be rain instead. Current estimate for our area on thw weather channel is 5-10 inches.
It was a bit creepy up at the view point as it was getting dark. Especially when you are crouched over a camera trying to get light trail shots of cars on the interstate below and cars occasionally go past behind you, even more creepy when you begin to think it looks like the same one driving around and around waiting for you to leave... perhaps so they can dump a body something... or perhaps they are deciding wether to make YOU the body... hmmmm.
