A Story at Bedtime
It's not very often that Hannah asks for a bedtime story and it's even less often that Philip gets the inclination to read...
Thankfully the two worlds collided happily tonight. As I sit downstairs, Philip and Hannah are upstairs inveigled in the world of Harry Potter. Apparently the third book is quite scary in bits (if you're 8) and definitely not one to be read on your own at bedtime. Thankfully dads are trained in reading scary stories at bedtime so she should be ok.
My dad was, I think, the one that read our bedtime stories most of the time. We used to really like "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". I can't remember much about the stories, other than they were very silly and Munchausen always seemed to be getting in to a lot of bother, but the illustrations were amazing...I'm not even all that sure that it's a book for kids? Ah well, too late for social services to be phoned, our fragile little minds were warped at a very early age.
