Devil's Beeftub
Like a scene from The Tripods, I came across these half built turbines marching over the Annandale hills. It's been a while since I last drove down the M74 but the view has changed markedly with the construction of these towers.
I had a good walk over Hart Fell, via the Hartfell Spa for some Chalybeate (no, me neither). Then crossed over a few more hills to the head of the the Devil's Beeftub, a deeply recessed bowl at the head of the valley where rustled cattle were reputedly hidden in times past. Nothing but sheep and a rusting car tumbled from the A701 two hundred metres above now.
