sticking your neck out

Went up to ChiangMai today. Bit of tourist route really but nonethless wonderful. Had dinner with a Thai collegue I met at the lecture on Friday.... fantastic meal.

Before dinner, just after arriving I had the chance of meeting few of the Karin people who live in Thailand and Burma. Known for their notable wearing of neck rings that increase in number with age, they seem to straddle many political and cultural worlds. Here a grand mother and her grandaughter pose for the obligatory photograph.
