Carlo's Gone Cymry!

My cat Carlo gets along famously with his bosom-buddy Max, who was the subject of my blip for yesterday. But ever since reading all the friendly comments Max has received, Carlo has been posessed by Jealousy, "the green-ey'd monster." When I came home from a day's work and found him wearing a Welsh worker's handkerchief around his neck, I was full of questions.

"Carlo," I asked, "Have you taken a job in a slate mine?"
"Remember Tryweryn," came the reply.
"Is this about the daffodills that are blooming in the yard?"
"Remember Tryweryn," Carlo said.
"Shall I mix a little laverbread in with your food this evening?"
"Remember Tryweryn!" growled the cat.

I would love to take my darling moggy to Wales, but I lack the means just now, even to bring myself there. I understand why he would want to run away from the safety of his Philadelphia digs to be in that lush green land again, where he would find a welcome. Carlo glared at me, defiance gleaming in his eyes, until I pulled the camera from my pocket and photographed him in his new patriotic colors. Now he's settled the score with that Media-hogging Max! After a brief photo shoot, my brave and fuzzy kitty curled up for a nice cozy nap.

"Cofiwch Dryweryn," Carlo purred, as he stepped into a dream.
