Lime Kiln
This lime kiln sits opposite us. Like our home it is listed and was part of the old Lough Rynn Estate. It was built between 1830 - 1850. The council did some works a few years ago to protect it from the elements. With some creative thinking and a bit of tlc, this beautiful building could be brought back to life.
This is the actual description on the Buildings of Ireland website
This is an interesting part of the landscape of Lough Rynn. It is the only building of its type in the demesne. The kiln follows the standard of construction set by other estate buildings with high quality stonework complemented by the colourful use of red brick. This building provides an insight into the industrial history of Lough Rynn.
