Bubbling hot, mind your hands
This is Cabidela de Galo, roughly translated as Rooster's Blood Rice, a dish made with rice, rooster's meat, rooster's blood, vinegar and other ingredients.
As a friend of mine was saying yesterday, something we portuguese people do often is talk about food.
She made this remark after noticing that:
- we were having dinner at one of favorite spots;
- we had just described each other our lunches;
- we were starting to talk about, with antecipation, of the 2 hour trip we made today to have lunch at a particulary good restaurant, where the pictured dish was served
I won't do like travel guides do and create a romantic view about our habits, but I think I can say that, in general, people in Portugal still value eating, having a proper meal every day and talking about this dish and that. The act of eating is not only something we have to do, it's something we should take pleasure with.
At least I do. And this here's the proof.
